It is not spring yet! Snow squalls are still popping up in the forecast and we ask residents to make sure you are prepared in case of an accident or break down. Emergency response can be delayed in winter conditions, leaving you in cold temperatures while you wait. In addition to the basic tools of an emergency vehicle kit (jumper cables, flashlight, cellphone charger, road flares, etc) be sure to add the following items to your trunk or an accessible area of the vehicle during winter months.
- Up to date first aid kit (pain meds, band aids, gauze, scissors, tweezers)
- Blanket and extra clothing including gloves or hand warmers
- Non-perishable high energy food such as dried nuts, energy bars, and hard candy
- Sand or cat litter that can be used for traction under tires if stuck in the snow or ice
- Ice scraper and snow brush to clear the windshield and top of your vehicle
- Shovel to dig out of the snow if you run off the road
