Controlled Burn Guidelines

In Penn Forest Township, open burning is allowed with specific restrictions. For detailed guidelines, please refer to the Township burning ordinance.

Before conducting a controlled burn, you must:

1. Notify the Carbon Co Communication Center
   Call the non-emergency number at 570-325-9123 and provide:
   • Your name and contact number.
   • The location of the controlled burn.
   • The estimated duration of the burn.
2. Prepare for Fire Safety
   • Ensure you have a water source or other fire suppression methods readily available to extinguish the fire.
3. Maintain Constant Supervision
   • The fire must be monitored by an individual at all times to ensure safety.
