Having an inaccessible driveway or missing address sign can lead to delays in receiving help. Be proactive!
????Make sure your driveway is clear of possible obstacles such as overhanging branches, gates, or trees that will restrict the clearance of emergency vehicles. A fire truck, the largest emergency vehicle, requires a clearance of at minimum 12 feet wide and 13.5 feet high.
???? All houses in Penn Forest Township should have a green address sign with reflective numbers located at the bottom of their driveway. These can be ordered from the Penn Forest Twp Vol Fire Companies (either station). Make sure the sign is visible from either direction and not blocked by vegetation.
???? Provide space at the bottom of your driveway for emergency vehicles to maneuver such as turning around. The surface of your driveway should also be packed and capable of supporting the weight of an emergency vehicle. This is especially important in the spring when the ground is soft.
